BPJS Kesehatan Urges Inactive Members to Check Reactivation Options
Jakarta. BPJS Kesehatan has urged recipients of government-funded health insurance contributions, known as Penerima Bantuan Iuran Jaminan Kesehatan (PBI JK), to regularly check their National Health Insurance (JKN) membership status following the deactivation of some participants due to updated beneficiary data.
Members can check their status through the PASTI JKN service or the Mobile JKN application.
BPJS Kesehatan Public Relations Chief Rizzky Anugerah explained that adjustments to PBI JK membership status are made in accordance with applicable regulations and based on updates to the National Single Socioeconomic Data (DTSEN) by the ministries and institutions authorized to manage PBI data. The adjustments follow community welfare criteria, meaning individuals who no longer qualify within deciles 1–5 are not included in the target group for PBI JK assistance.
“Members need to regularly check their JKN membership status to understand their current coverage. If their status is inactive, they can seek information through official BPJS Kesehatan channels and coordinate with the relevant agencies based on their circumstances,” Rizzky said.
He explained that participants classified in deciles 6–10 whose actual circumstances still indicate poverty or financial hardship can update their socioeconomic data if it does not reflect their current conditions. They have a 90-day grace period to update their information through their village or subdistrict office or the local Social Affairs Office.
Participants can also verify their socioeconomic status through the Social Affairs Ministry’s official Cek Bansos website at https://cekbansos.kemensos.go.id/.
Meanwhile, participants whose welfare data is accurate or who can afford to pay contributions independently are encouraged to switch to the self-funded JKN membership category to maintain their health coverage.
“Updating socioeconomic data is important to ensure that contribution assistance reaches people who meet the eligibility criteria. Therefore, participants who believe their economic circumstances are not accurately reflected in the recorded data should promptly coordinate with local governments through village or subdistrict officials or the local Social Affairs Office,” Rizzky added.
Inactive PBI JK members can apply for reactivation under the applicable regulations. Under Social Affairs Minister Regulation No. 3/2026, reactivation criteria include participants whose membership was deactivated no more than six months ago, as well as inactive PBI JK members who require medical services.
To apply for reactivation, participants can report to their local Social Affairs Office and bring a medical service requirement certificate (Surat Keterangan Membutuhkan Layanan Kesehatan). The office will then submit a proposal to the Social Affairs Ministry for verification. If the participant meets the requirements following verification, BPJS Kesehatan will reactivate their membership, allowing them to access healthcare services in accordance with applicable regulations.
“We urge inactive PBI JK members who need healthcare services to promptly coordinate with their local Social Affairs Office. By following the established procedures, reactivation applications can be processed in accordance with the requirements and verification results,” Rizzky said.
The Social Affairs Ministry periodically updates PBI JK beneficiary data to ensure that assistance reaches eligible recipients.
Members can check whether their JKN coverage is active through the PASTI JKN microsite at https://pasti.bpjs-kesehatan.go.id/cek/, the Mobile JKN application, the PANDAWA administrative service via WhatsApp at 08118165165, the BPJS Kesehatan Care Center at 165, or the nearest BPJS Kesehatan office.
“We encourage all JKN members, particularly PBI JK recipients, to proactively check their membership status through the available official channels. If their status is inactive, they should promptly seek information on the necessary steps so that their healthcare rights and access can be addressed in accordance with applicable regulations,” Rizzky concluded.
