Cibinong. Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto has partnered with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to help his government in implementing strategic regional programs in a transparent and graft-free manner.

The regent held a meeting with KPK representatives at the regional secretariat in Cibinong on Tuesday.

Rudy said that this step demonstrated the Bogor Regency Government's commitment to achieving transparent, accountable, and corruption-free governance.

"The Bogor Regency Government has officially requested KPK assistance for several strategic programs. This is part of our one-year evaluation of our administration, as well as a response to various public complaints and developing news reports," Rudy said.

The programs in question included land acquisition for the construction of a dedicated road for mining and goods transportation, as well as the Rancabungur-Leuwiliang Road project. KPK's help is also key to making sure that every strategic policy and program implemented by the regional government complies with applicable laws and regulations. The meeting with KPK will also zero in on mining and land conversion issues.

"The assistance will not only involve the KPK, but will also be carried out in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, such as the Bogor Regency District Attorney's Office and the Bogor Police," Rudy said.

Bahtiar Ujang Purnama, the director for coordination and supervision for Region II at KPK, said that the agency commended the Bogor Regency Government for having a higher integrity management score, which stood at 73.8 last year.

"KPK noted the Bogor Regent's strong commitment to continuous improvement. In the supervision forum, the Bogor Regent expressed his commitment to more seriously improve the quality of governance by 2026," Bahtiar said.

On mining governance, KPK acknowledged that problems within the sector require collaboration. To this end, the agency will partner with the Bogor Regency Government, the prosecutor's office, the Police, and the provincial government. Bahtiar also went on to say how the economic boon from mining activities, namely tax and regional revenue, needs to be taken into account. KPK also highlighted the need to minimize environmental impacts.

KPK will facilitate coordination between stakeholders, analyze and identify problems, and formulate joint follow-up steps. The anti-graft agency will also conduct supervision, both directly and indirectly, to ensure optimal governance improvements.
