Jakarta. Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, the spokesperson for President-Elect and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, recently revealed what the latter looked for when picking his ministers.

Prabowo will succeed the incumbent President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in forty days from now. The nearing inauguration date sparks public curiosity on who will be Prabowo’s ministers. Lists of potential ministers have circulated online, although Prabowo is set to announce his cabinet makeup once he officially assumes office. According to Dahnil, there are several traits that Prabowo searches for in his future minister.

“What is clear is that Mr. Prabowo will choose someone who upholds high integrity and the necessary competency that suits what his government needs. Loyalty towards Mr. Prabowo’s agenda is also a key factor,” Dahnil said as broadcasted by BTV on Monday.

Dahnil said that anyone who gets picked should also commit to doing their job well, adding that the ministers were expected to help drive national development. 

“Recently, Mr. Prabowo often talked of the need to address corruption. He is committed to make sure that his ministers are someone with high integrity and can address corruption practices,” Dahnil said.

According to Dahnil, he also wants his government to use the state budget in an effective and efficient manner, considering the many development agenda that they will have to work on.

“The future ministers must have the capacity and competence that Prabowo needs, regardless of their backgrounds, whether they are members of a political party or not,” Dahnil said.
