Prabowo to Verify Data on Social Assistance Beneficiaries
Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has instructed Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf to verify and validate the data of beneficiaries receiving government social assistance, ensuring that aid is directed to the rightful recipients.
“The first directive from President Prabowo is to validate the data,” Saifullah said on Monday evening in Jakarta.
He acknowledged that current government data often fails to accurately reflect the number of beneficiaries, largely due to a lack of regular updates from regional authorities.
“We face issues on the ground regarding the accuracy of the data. For example, cases of deaths or residential relocations are not reported to us promptly,” he said. “There are many challenges at the local level that compromise the validity of the social assistance records.”
The central government plans to work closely with municipal governments to continuously update data from each region, Saifullah added.
“We will adopt technology and collaborate with local authorities to ensure that the data is updated regularly,” he said.
During his inaugural speech on Sunday, President Prabowo said his administration will prioritize ensuring government subsidies reach those most in need and will implement measures to prevent the misuse of social assistance funds.
