Prabowo Set to Announce Cabinet Members on Inauguration Day
Jakarta. Prabowo Subianto will announce members of his cabinet on October 20, the day he is inaugurated as Indonesia's eighth president, a close ally said on Tuesday.
The cabinet selection will be completed five days before the inauguration with Prabowo reportedly planning to expand cabinet members from 34 to 44.
"The name of the cabinet and its members will be announced by Mr. Prabowo himself on October 20," said Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, acting chairman of Prabowo's Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra). "The president-elect wanted to conclude the selection of his cabinet members five days before his inauguration."
Dasco hinted that professionals will make up the majority of cabinet members, outnumbering representatives from political parties. However, he declined to elaborate on the name of new ministries and state agencies set up by Prabowo.
"The composition of the upcoming cabinet remains fluid but there will be fewer representatives from political parties than professionals," Dasco said.
