Jakarta. President-Elect Prabowo Subianto expressed his desire to unite all political forces and collaborate with his upcoming government to foster national prosperity. However, he acknowledged that certain factions seek to perpetuate post-election tensions.

Speaking at the national congress of the National Mandate Party (PAN) in Jakarta on Saturday, Prabowo said he holds the people's mandate and warned his political opponents about underestimating his position.

"My colleagues in other political parties understand this. Since receiving the mandate from the Indonesian people, I’ve called for de-escalation. Yet, some prefer to maintain the heated rivalry,” said Prabowo, who also chairs the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).

Though he did not name specific parties, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) remains the only major political group that has yet to align with Prabowo’s incoming government.

Tensions between the PDI-P and Prabowo's coalition are particularly visible ahead of the Jakarta gubernatorial election, where PDI-P stands alone in nominating a different candidate than the pro-Prabowo bloc.

PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri recently remarked during an internal meeting that her party is “being left alone” by others.

Prabowo cautioned his political adversaries "not to miscalculate" his resolve as president, pledging that he and his allies would work tirelessly to reduce poverty and combat corruption.

"My brothers, do not be misled or divided again. The people's power stands behind us,” Prabowo told PAN members.
