Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto returned to Indonesia on Tuesday after attending the signing of a historic Gaza peace agreement at the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit in Egypt, where he also witnessed a key commitment for Israel to withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip.

The presidential aircraft Garuda Indonesia-1 landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in East Jakarta at 2:30 p.m. local time. Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Speaking to reporters, Prabowo said the Sharm el-Sheikh summit marked a pivotal moment in efforts to end the long-standing conflict between Hamas and Israel. One of the main outcomes, he said, was the planned withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza following the enforcement of the ceasefire.

“We came to express our support. What’s important is that the ceasefire is now in effect, and soon Israeli troops will be withdrawn,” Prabowo told reporters at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.

The president said he witnessed the signing of the ceasefire agreement, which has already taken effect. The next stage, he added, involves both Hamas and Israel releasing prisoners and hostages to their respective sides.

“There are still some remains of those who have not been found,” he added.

The historic peace document was signed by US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

“I believe many leaders from different nations witnessed the signing of the core agreement — a ceasefire plan that will pave the way toward lasting peace,” Prabowo said.

He reaffirmed Indonesia’s long-standing solidarity with Palestine, saying his personal commitment to the Palestinian cause spans decades. “For decades, I have stood for Palestine. Since my youth, we have consistently supported Palestinian independence and its people,” he said.

Prabowo also highlighted Indonesia’s ongoing humanitarian role, including sending food aid and logistical support. “Alhamdulillah, we have been active, sending aid, ships, and Hercules aircraft several times. The Palestinian people and the Middle East know Indonesia’s commitment. We’ve sent thousands of tons of rice and will continue to do so,” he said.

President Prabowo reaffirmed that Indonesia will remain engaged in supporting Palestine’s recovery and peace process. “Indonesia will continue to assist Palestine in post-conflict reconstruction and in realizing genuine peace,” he said.
