Jakarta. The Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party is advancing its congress from August to February 2025, focusing on re-electing Prabowo Subianto as chairman and chief patron. This decision follows strong requests from party members during the National Leadership Meeting in Hambalang, Bogor, on Friday.

"The meeting requested that the Gerindra Party Congress, originally scheduled for August next year, be moved to February, coinciding with Gerindra's anniversary," said Ahmad Muzani, Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party.

Muzani added that during the upcoming congress, members will urge Prabowo Subianto to continue serving as both party chairman and head of the Gerindra Party's board of trustees.

"We will ask Prabowo to lead us as chairman and head of the Gerindra board of trustees for the next five years," he stated.

In his address at the leadership meeting, Prabowo expressed gratitude to all party members for their dedication during the 2024 Presidential Election.

"This meeting also serves as a consolidation event for the entire Gerindra Party structure to support and ensure the success of the Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government after their inauguration," Muzani added.

Muzani emphasized that the leadership meeting is the highest decision-making forum after the congress, playing a key role in uniting the party's entire structure in support of the Prabowo-Gibran administration, set to be inaugurated on October 20.

The two-day Gerindra Rapimnas took place from August 30-31, 2024. The closing ceremony will be held at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Senayan, Jakarta, and will be attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"The President has been invited to attend the Gerindra Party cadre rally and is scheduled to deliver a speech," said Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, in a message from Jakarta on Saturday.

The Gerindra cadre rally is set to begin at 7:00 p.m., marking the conclusion of the leadership meeting.
