Jakarta. State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir announced that the state defense company Pindad has received orders for nearly 4,600 units of the Maung vehicle from the Defense Ministry, set to be produced over the next two years.

Erick also urged Pindad to prepare operational vehicles for ministers in the Red and White Cabinet, following directives from President Prabowo Subianto.

"We support efforts to increase domestic production," Erick said on Tuesday.

He added that Pindad will conduct a reassessment to ensure production meets the demand for operational vehicles for ministers. There are 109 ministers and deputy ministers in the current cabinet.

Previously, Deputy Minister of Finance Anggito Abimanyu revealed that President Prabowo plans to provide locally made Maung cars, produced by Pindad, for ministers and government officials in his administration. Anggito stated that President Prabowo aims to eliminate the use of imported vehicles as official cars during his term, with current operational vehicles being Toyota Alphard and Crown models.
