Jakarta. The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara on Saturday damaged nearly 12,000 homes and hundreds of public facilities, as the government shifts its focus toward restoring critical infrastructure and delivering aid to tens of thousands of displaced residents.

National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said Tuesday that 11,925 homes had been damaged across the affected areas, including 5,516 classified as heavily damaged, 1,916 moderately damaged and 4,493 lightly damaged.

The earthquake has killed 70 people, injured 1,182 and forced 40,040 residents to seek shelter, according to BNPB's latest update as of 6 p.Infrm. Jakarta time on Tuesday. The disaster has affected 16,411 families across three provinces, nine regencies and one city.

Public infrastructure has also sustained extensive damage, with 663 educational facilities and 182 health facilities among those affected. The quake also damaged 173 places of worship, 184 government offices, 49 public facilities and 39 road points.

Other damaged infrastructure includes a logistics warehouse, seven irrigation facilities, one market and three bridges.

The scale of the damage has prompted the government to prioritize the restoration of roads, electricity, communications and other basic infrastructure needed to support relief distribution and daily activities in affected communities.

BNPB said the central government had established a main emergency response post in Nagekeo Regency and mobilized resources for rescue, medical care, logistics and infrastructure recovery.

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) is coordinating search and rescue operations for residents who remain missing.

National logistics posts have also been established at Haji Hasan Aroeboesman Airport in Ende and Bajawa Soa Airport in Ngada to support the distribution of aid and the deployment of personnel.

The Health Ministry has dispatched two health management teams and Emergency Medical Teams to several affected areas, including Sikka and Ende, while heavy equipment and medical supplies have been sent to support emergency operations.

Telecommunications recovery has reached 98.3%, according to BNPB. All substations in the affected areas are operating, while most electricity customers have had their service restored.

The government has also sent food supplies, tents, search-and-rescue equipment and operational vehicles to affected communities. Among the supplies delivered by sea were 100 food packages, 500 family tents and 20 refugee tents.

Additional assistance has been transported by land, while heavy equipment and operational vehicles have been deployed to accelerate evacuations and infrastructure repairs.

Joint personnel from government agencies and related institutions continue to support search-and-rescue operations, health services, logistics distribution and the restoration of roads, electricity, communications and other essential infrastructure.

Air and sea transportation have also been prepared to support the movement of personnel and relief supplies to affected areas as the emergency response continues.
