Jakarta. The Katedral Church in Jakarta has donated a sacrificial cow to the nearby Istiqlal Mosque ahead of Eid al-Adha, one of the most important Muslim holidays, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, which falls on Monday.

The donation is a gesture of religious tolerance and friendship, said Istiqlal spokesman Ismail Cawidu.

“We have received a donation in the form of a cow from the Katedral Church,” Ismail said.

The church also provides its parking grounds for Muslims to use for the Eid al-Adha prayer on Monday morning.

“This is a reciprocal policy that has been in place for a long time. During Christmas, the Istiqlal Mosque also opens its parking grounds for churchgoers,” Ismail added.

The mosque anticipates around 250,000 Muslims for the mass prayer, Istiqlal Imam Nazarudin Umar mentioned separately.

Vice President Ma’ruf Amin is expected to join the prayer, which will begin at 7 a.m.
