Bogor. Indonesia must defeat Singapore in its final Group A match to keep its ASEAN Championship (AFF Cup) semifinal hopes alive after suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Vietnam on Monday.

The loss dropped Indonesia to third place in the group with six points, while Vietnam moved to the top of the standings with seven points, ahead of second-placed Singapore on goal difference.

Singapore, which also has seven points, needs only a draw against Indonesia when the teams meet on Aug. 7 to secure a place in the semifinals.

Vietnam took control early at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor, with Nguyen Van Vi opening the scoring in the sixth minute before Nguyen Hai Long doubled the lead with a swift counterattack nine minutes later.

Indonesia struggled to break down Vietnam's disciplined defense despite the presence of naturalized players Thom Haye and Mitchell Baker, while goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang produced several key saves to preserve the visitors' advantage.

Vietnam sealed the victory in the 70th minute when Nguyen Xuan Son finished a counterattacking move after receiving a through ball from Nguyen Hoang Duc.
