Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested an individual posing as a KPK employee. During the arrest, authorities seized several items including a Porsche and cash.

“During this operation, we secured Rp 300 million ($18,300) in cash, an iPhone, and a white Porsche with license plate B 1556 XD,” said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday.

A total of six people were detained, including the alleged fake KPK employee identified as YS, one driver, and four civil servants from the Bogor Regency.

The impostor is suspected of extorting money from officials within the Bogor Regency government. It was reported that this individual demanded money from officials by claiming to be a KPK employee. The anti-corruption agency then deployed a team of investigators, inspectors, and surveillance officers to verify the allegations.

“After confirming that the individual had received money from the complainant, our team apprehended him at the Mang Kabayan restaurant in Bogor at approximately 1:30 p,m.,” Tessa explained.

The suspect was subsequently taken to his residence in Villa Bogor Indah, Bogor City, and then to the KPK's Red and White Building for further clarification. The investigation concluded that the suspect was not an actual KPK employee.

“The suspect, along with the cash, items, and vehicle, will be handed over by the KPK to the Bogor Police for further action,” Tessa added.
