Jakarta. Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri has once again filed a pretrial motion at the South Jakarta District Court in response to his designation as a suspect by the Jakarta Police. This marks the second attempt at pretrial proceedings by Firli after the initial effort ended in a dismissal.

"The case concerning the validity of the suspect designation," states the announcement on the case tracking information system (SIPP) of the district court, as reported on Tuesday.

On Monday, Firli Bahuri filed a pretrial motion, naming the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Police as the respondent, as stated in the SIPP.

A spokesperson for the court, Djuyamto, said that the judge assigned to handle Firli's pretrial motion has been appointed.

"The judge who will examine the case is Estiono. The first session has been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024," said Djuyamto.

The South Jakarta District Court recently turned down Firli Bahuri's attempt to challenge his suspension from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a case involving alleged extortion against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Firli, who was removed as KPK chairman due to criminal charges by the National Police, is accused of extorting Syahrul, a suspect under KPK investigation.

Following an ethics breach connected to the criminal charges, the KPK's oversight body found Firli guilty, leading to his termination from the commission by President Joko Widodo.
