FIFA President to Launch PSSI’s Training Center in Indonesian New Capital Next Month
Jakarta. Gianni Infantino, the president of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), is set to launch a training center project in Indonesia’s future capital Nusantara next month.
FIFA is taking part in the construction of a training center belonging to the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) at the new capital.
The world football governing body has invested approximately $85.6 billion in the first phase of the center’s construction. The funding of the second phase will come from sponsors. This project also marks the first time for FIFA to provide grants to a country.
PSSI broke ground on this sports facility, which sits on 34.52 hectares of land, last September. FIFA president Infantino will arrive in Indonesia on Oct. 10, and launch the training center the following day.
“The launch of PSSI’s training center in the new capital is set to take place on Oct. 11. We will also see its official signing by FIFA,” PSSI chairman Erick Thohir said in Jakarta on Thursday.
