Cikampek. A tragic accident occurred on the Cikampek Toll Road at kilometer 58, resulting in the death of nine individuals and causing two cars to catch fire on Monday.

The incident took place in the contraflow lane during the Eid homecoming traffic.

According to reports monitored by Beritasatu TV, the police are currently evacuating the victims and managing the traffic flow, which has caused a long queue of vehicles.

The accident happened after a bus from the direction of Cikampek was unable to avoid colliding with a Grandmax minivan vehicle. The collision led to both the Grandmax and another car catching fire at the scene.

State toll road operator Jasa Marga predicts that approximately 1.86 million vehicles will depart from Jakarta during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr holiday period, which falls between April 3rd and April 11th.
