Jakarta. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo did not comment much on his youngest son Kaesang Pangarep’s recent visit to the anti-corruption body KPK to clarify his lavish private jet trip to the US.

Kaesang has been under media spotlight after a video of him going on a Gulfstream G650 private jet trip with his wife Erina Gudono circulated on the internet. The video led to graft speculations. Kaesang, who chairs the Indonesia Solidarity Party (PSI), headed to KPK’s office on Tuesday to give the anti-corruption body some explanation.

“I will just say that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law. That’s all,” Jokowi told reporters after kicking off a geothermal forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Kaesang headed to KPK’s office alongside his attorney Nasrullah, PSI Secretary-Chairman Raja Juli, and his spokesman Francine Widjojo. Kaesang said that he was only “hitchhiking a friend’s private jet to the US”. The KPK visit did not last long. Kaesang said he had come to KPK at his own initiative, denying that the anti-corruption agency had summoned him.

According to Francine, Kaesang has already filled out a so-called graft form. She added: “Now we wait for further instructions by the KPK. We were told to fill out a graft-form and later KPK will decide whether it [the private jet] falls under the category of graft.”
