Jakarta. Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building in Jakarta on Monday morning to give his deposition into the ongoing graft investigation.

Syahrul previously said he won’t be able to undergo the interrogation until June 27, citing conflicting schedules with his overseas trips.

The KPK has not explained in detail about the alleged graft case in Syahrul’s office, saying they are currently at the preliminary stage of the investigation where investigators are still collecting evidence and witnesses’ accounts.

Syahrul said on Friday he couldn’t honor the KPK summons because he was still on an official trip to India.

He also plans to visit China and South Korea to “strengthen cooperation in the agricultural modernization and facilitate export markets for [Indonesian] agricultural products”.

"Rest assured that we respect the KPK and have requested the interrogation to be rescheduled for June 27, 2023," he said at that time.

Syahrul is a politician of the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), which has left a pro-government coalition since the party officially nominated former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan for president last October.

The KPK summons came after another Nasdem top politician, Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny Plate, was arrested by the Attorney General’s Office for graft allegations.
