Jakarta. The BTV Semesta Berpesta music and entertainment festival is being held in Jakarta this weekend, bringing dozens of Indonesian musicians, fitness activities, food, and creative workshops to the capital.

The two-day event runs Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16, at the East Senayan Parking Area in the Gelora Bung Karno complex. The Jakarta edition is the eighth and final stop of the Semesta Berpesta festival, which has toured several cities across Indonesia.

The first day features indie band The Adams, idol group JKT48, singer Raisa, and dangdut star King Nassar. The LSPR Choir will open the day's music performances.

The second day will feature Indonesian pop acts RAN, Rizky Febian, Mahalini, and Tulus, with the Budi Luhur University choir scheduled to open the performances.

Beyond the concerts, the festival features Zumba sessions, the Asian Pop Playground, a food bazaar, games and other activities for visitors.

Activities began early Saturday, with hundreds of visitors gathering from around 7 a.m. for a Zumba session led by an instructor.

By 9 a.m., visitors were also lining up for workshops, including sessions on making soap from eco-enzyme and keychains from recycled bottle caps. The workshops, held from 9 a.m. to noon, were organized with Desa Sejahtera Astra Perwira in Bekasi.

Susan, a visitor from Depok, West Java, said she enjoyed taking part in Zumba and exploring the festival booths before joining the soap-making workshop.

“It’s my first time joining a soap-making workshop, so I was a little awkward at first because I didn’t know the ingredients or how to make it,” Susan told BTV on Saturday.

The workshop uses eco-enzyme to produce environmentally friendly bar soap, helping introduce participants to ways of reducing household waste.

Susan said the experience had given her an opportunity to learn something new.

“It’s been a great experience. We’ve learned many things here that we didn’t know before,” she said.

Saturday's main-stage performances are scheduled to begin with The Adams at 5 p.m., followed by JKT48 at 7 p.m. Raisa is scheduled to perform at 8:30 p.m., while Nassar will close the first day's main-stage lineup at 9:35 p.m.

The festival continues Sunday with another full day of music and entertainment as Semesta Berpesta concludes its nationwide run in Jakarta.
