Jakarta. Sandiaga Uno, the running mate of losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, said their campaign team is still preparing a lawsuit to contest the election results that they plan to submit to the Constitutional Court on Friday.

They have also briefed a team of attorneys to challenge the election result in the court. Prabowo’s right-hand man Fadli Zon had earlier said that it was useless to go to the court just as they did in 2014.

In the previous presidential election, which also pitted Prabowo against winner Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, the former challenged the election result at the Constitutional Court, but the lawsuit was rejected.

"We are preparing to submit the challenge to the Constitutional Court. The plan is to announce our [legal] team tomorrow after Friday prayers," Sandiaga said at Prabowo’s residence on Jalan Kertanegara in South Jakarta on Thursday.

Sandiaga said the legal team will be announced at 2 p.m. on Friday. They have until midnight on Friday to submit their election dispute to the court.

"This is our step to remain on the constitutional track," he said, referring to Prabowo and himself.

Prabowo's Team

So far, four names that will form Prabowo and Sandiaga's legal team have been confirmed, as mentioned by campaign team spokesman Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak on Wednesday.

They include two members of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan's Team for Accelerated Development (TGUPP), Rikrik Rizkiyana and former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chairman Bambang Widjojanto.

At the TGUPP, Rikrik heads the regulation synchronization committee, while Bambang leads the corruption prevention committee. They were also members of Anies' campaign team during the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

The remaining two are former Law and Human Rights deputy minister Denny Indrayana and Irmanputra Sidin, a state administrative legal expert.
