Thousands of Lawyers Declare Support for Prabowo-Gibran
Jakarta. Thousands of lawyers from the Indonesian Advocate Alliance recently declared their support for the presidential candidate pairing of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 election.
The alliance announced its support during an event in Jakarta. As soon as Prabowo stepped into the room, the crowd of advocates immediately shouted his name, while also saying they wanted to see him claim victory in just one round of election].
“Prabowo as president! One-round [election],” the crowd screamed.
According to the Indonesian Advocate Alliance chairman Otto Hasibuan, the lawyers in the crowd came from different educational backgrounds. Otto added that the lawyers also came to the event at their own will.
“My friends right here really love this country, and Mr. Prabowo,” Otto said.
Dwiyanto Prihartono, the alliance’s secretary-general, said that these advocates came from 23 provinces. He added: “There are around 40,000 people and not everyone could make it here. We have [advocates] spanning across 190 cities who offer themselves [to give support.”
“It all started with small discussions and that eventually led to the establishment of this alliance and also our support to Prabowo. It is time for professionals to also think about our country, and not just politics. But also to be more courageous to help this country advance by contributing their minds to this country,” Dwiyanto said.
