Pegadaian Wins 2024 In-House Counsel Award
Jakarta. Pawnshop Pegadaian recently announced that it had won a 2024 In-House Counsel Award.
The company secured an award for being the most innovative in-house counsel non-bank financial industry category. The award was organized by Hukumonline and the Indonesia In-House Counsel Association (ICCA). Pegadaian’s legal division head Arifmon received the award on Friday.
Pegadaian’s risk management, legal and compliance head Udin Salahudin said that the award reflected the company’s strong commitment to supporting legal compliance with Indonesia’s existing regulations. This also aligns with the principles of good corporate governance (GCG).
"Through a proactive and adaptive approach, we have succeeded in overcoming existing challenges and creating added value for the company. Pegadaian continues to strive to support legal compliance in accordance with the principles of GCG,” Udin said.
“Our legal division is not just a cost center, but it is also business-driven so that we can help Indonesia achieve its golden era by 2045,” Udin said.
Pegadaian has made several innovations related to legal risk mitigation. It adopts machine learning based on artificial intelligence, namely the G-Law System. This tool helps analyze legal problems, customer character, judge's decisions, and enables the automation of drafting agreements.
