Jakarta. State-owned pawnbroker Pegadaian recently shared some tips on how to avoid recruitment fraud as such crime becomes more rampant day by day.

"Scammers often upload fake recruitment posts from large companies, especially on social media. We, Pegadaian, strongly warn the public, especially people who wish to work with us, to be wary of job listings claimed to be from Pegadaian," the company's human capital director, Tribuana Tunggadewi, said.

According to Dewi, Pegadaian never charges any fee during the recruitment process. The company also does not collaborate with any travel agencies. Any available jobs will be available on the official website pegadaian.co.id, LinkedIn account, or the pegadaian_id on Instagram.

Here are some tips to avoid fake recruitment:

1. Check the source of information
Professional companies will use their official website and social media to announce recruitment information. Likewise, for information via email, the company will use an official domain, such as: hrd@[companyname].co.id.

2. Ignore any requests for money
Legitimate recruitment processes do not charge any fees during the recruitment process. In some cases, fraudsters often use the scam of paying for airline or hotel reservations through fictitious travel agents, even promising reimbursement.

3. Pay attention to the quality of writing
Job invitation letters from legit companies are professionally written with clear grammar.

Be wary of recruitment information containing numerous typos, excessive use of punctuation such as exclamation marks or capital letters, blurry letter formatting, such as pasted-on or photocopied, the use of company photos with unused uniforms, and inappropriate placement of the company logo, such as using an old logo, a different logo color, or a stretched logo.

4. Research the company's location and contact information
Scammers often use unclear or fictitious office addresses. Use Google Maps to verify the address, and check the contact number using a phone number checker app to determine whether the number is legitimate or a scam.

5. Don't be tempted by unreasonable salaries

Be wary if a position offers a salary far above the market average for minimal experience. Fraudsters often use large figures to lure victims into ignoring logic.

6. Be wary of overly fast recruitment processes
Prospective employees at professional companies will go through several selection stages, such as administration, technical ability tests, psychological tests, leaderless group Discussions (LGDs), interviews, and even health tests, according to the company's needs.

If you find any irregularities in the information or recruitment process, prospective employees should be vigilant to avoid falling victim to this scam. To confirm any suspicious recruitment information claiming to be from Pegadaian, contact Pegadaian's official channels via the Call Center at 1500-569 or WhatsApp PEVITA at 0811-1-1500569.
