Pegadaian Boosts Community Outreach in Medan with Weekly Charity Program
Medan. Pegadaian Regional Office I Medan has once again demonstrated its commitment to social cause through its “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” program, themed Sedekah Jumat (Friday Almsgiving), by distributing aid to local communities, particularly around mosque areas. The initiative was carried out by the Lodendang and Sidorukun Service Units (UPC), under the Krakatau Branch, on Friday.
The program is part of the broader Pegadaian Peduli initiative, which is regularly conducted as a reflection of the company’s concern for social conditions in the community. Aid distribution took place at two locations: around Al-Ma’ruf Mosque on Sidorukun Street and Nur Chadijah Mosque in the Wartawan Complex on Letterpress Ujung Street.
During the activity, Pegadaian teams distributed food packages consisting of boxed snacks and bottled water to residents near the mosques. The assistance is expected to provide immediate benefits while strengthening the values of togetherness and social care.
Representatives from UPC Lodendang and UPC Sidorukun said that the Friday Almsgiving program is not only focused on providing aid but also serves as a means to foster closer ties with the community.
“Through this Friday Almsgiving program, we aim to be consistently present among the community and share happiness. We hope the assistance provided will be beneficial and bring blessings to us all,” a Pegadaian representative said.
Meanwhile, Krakatau Branch Head Amelia Besty Gaiety stressed that the activity is part of the company’s commitment to implementing its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
“This activity reflects Pegadaian’s genuine care for surrounding communities. We are committed to continuing the Friday Almsgiving program on a sustainable basis so that its benefits can reach a wider audience,” she said.
The initiative received a positive response from beneficiaries, who expressed appreciation for Pegadaian’s concern for the local community.
With the spirit of “Golden Indonesia", Pegadaian Regional Office I Medan will continue expanding the reach of its social and environmental responsibility programs to ensure broader and more equitable impact, including through the Friday Almsgiving initiative, which is expected to deliver sustainable positive outcomes
