Minister Maruarar Visits Astra’s Livable Housing Initiative in Banyumas
Banyumas. Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait visited Tunjung Village, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Saturday to review the progress of Astra’s livable housing project for local communities. The visit included a symbolic key handover ceremony to several new homeowners.
Astra’s Chief of Corporate Affairs, Boy Kelana Soebroto, accompanied the minister during the ceremony, where symbolic keys were presented to Hendro Raharjo and Anwar Mualif, representing the program’s beneficiaries. Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono also attended the event.
“This visit marks an important moment to witness firsthand the progress of a project we began with a groundbreaking ceremony in August,” Boy said. “Astra hopes each house will become a proper and comfortable home where families can grow and build a better future.”
Boy added that Astra encourages broader collaboration among stakeholders to support the government’s efforts in developing affordable and livable housing for low-income families.
The initiative, launched on 20 August 2025, covers the construction of 250 free housing units across two Desa Sejahtera Astra (Astra Prosperous Villages) that also serve as Astra carbon forest sites -- 165 homes in Banyumas, Central Java, and 85 homes in Garut, West Java.
According to Boy, the program represents Astra’s concrete commitment to contributing to Indonesia’s development across various regions. Beyond physical construction, Astra promotes community participation in the building process to strengthen a sense of ownership, cooperation, and environmental awareness.
The company views the initiative as part of its broader vision of sustainable development. “Through collaboration with local communities, Astra aims to not only improve housing quality but also foster long-term social and environmental resilience,” Boy said.
Astra International is one of Indonesia’s largest public companies, comprising 302 subsidiaries, joint ventures, and associates, and supported by more than 190,000 employees nationwide.
The company stated that its involvement in the livable housing program aligns with its long-standing mission of “prosperity with the nation” and its commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia.
