Surabaya. Copper miner Freeport Indonesia recently gave away e-money prizes worth Rp 500,000 for 10 people who had won the special quiz at Semesta Berpesta Surabaya.

Indonesia is abundant in natural resources, including copper, a mainstay for renewable power generation. For instance, 3.6 tons of copper is needed for a 1-megawatt solar panel. The same amount of copper is also needed to move wind turbines for wind power generation, according to Freeport. It takes as many as 83 tons of copper to make the components, batteries, and cables in an electric vehicle (EV). Freeport said that the engines and hydro pump on a hydropower plant would require between 0.3 and 4 tons of copper.

To spread the word on copper benefits, Freeport Indonesia in partnership with the music festival Semesta Berpesta held a quiz on the metal.

The Instagram quiz --titled “Let’s Talk About Copper”-- took place on Thursday. To join, followers had to follow @freeportindonesia on Instagram and subscribe to Freeport Indonesia’s YouTube channel. Participants had to watch the video "Copper in the Era of Clean, Renewable Energy'' and answer questions related to the video provided. Participants had to share the quiz via the Instagram story by tagging the account @freeportindonesia and adding the hashtags #FreeportIndonesia #ForemostInCopper.
