Chandra Asri Group Wins Green Industry Award 2025 in the Transformation Toward Green Industry Category
Jakarta. Chandra Asri Pacific (Chandra Asri Group), a leading energy, chemical, and infrastructure solutions provider in Southeast Asia, has received recognition at the 2025 Green Industry Awards organized by the Industry Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia in
the Transformation Toward Green Industry category.
At the event, Chandra Asri Group’s plant in Pulo Ampel secured the top position (ranked 1st), while its plant in Ciwandan also achieved success by ranking 4th in the same category. The Green Industry Award is an annual program by the Ministry of Industry aimed at promoting the decarbonization agenda in the industrial sector through the implementation of sustainability principles.
Chandra Asri Group’s achievement in winning the award in the Transformation Toward Green Industry category is demonstrated by a 14.2 percent reduction in carbon emissions since the 2018 baseline year. The company’s decarbonization agenda is implemented through
strategies focused on energy efficiency, expansion into environmentally friendly businesses, utilization of renewable energy, adoption of low-carbon technologies, and the application of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS).
Beyond its decarbonization agenda, Chandra Asri Group also applies circular economy principles through various waste management initiatives. These include processing plastic waste into pyrolysis oil under the PLUSRI program, implementing plastic asphalt using low-
value recycled plastic materials through its CIRCLO product, and adopting RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) cofiring to convert waste into alternative fuel. These efforts support the company in creating a sustainable resource management ecosystem.
Director of Legal, External Relations, and Circular Economy at Chandra Asri Group, Edi Rivai stated that the Green Industry Award from the Ministry of Industry highlights the company’s consistency in fostering a low-carbon industry while simultaneously building a circular economy ecosystem in Indonesia.
“This step is crucial to support the Net Zero Emission 2060 target and to strengthen the competitiveness of the national industry in the global market, which increasingly demands sustainable business practices. The success in reducing carbon footprints and developing
circular economy solutions forms a vital foundation for the sustainability of industries in the future,” Edi said.
Through this award, Chandra Asri Group reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the government’s agenda of realizing the transformation toward a green industry in achieving national decarbonization targets. At the 2025 Green Industry Award ceremony, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized the importance of transforming industries toward green practices as part of the country’s broader development strategy.
Currently, the manufacturing industry is facing significant challenges, ranging from geopolitical and geo-economic dynamics to global demands for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the transformation toward a green industry should not be viewed as a
cost but rather as an investment in achieving sustainable business.
