Jakarta. Chemical and infrastructure solutions company Chandra Asri Group is ramping up its business diversification strategy.

The company has a port subsidiary called Chandra Pelabuhan Nusantara (CPN). According to a press release, CPN operates an integrated solution that includes jetty services (loading/unloading and mooring services) and storage services for bulk liquids (tank rentals) for various industries in Cilegon and its surrounding areas. CPN operates three strategic jetties located in the Sunda Strait with a total capacity of 96,000 DWT (deadweight tonnage) and tank storage with a total capacity of 518,000 cubic meters for various products such as naphtha, ethylene, propylene, and pyrolysis gasoline (Py-Gas). The presence of CPN is expected to optimize operational efficiency of various industries and add value for stakeholders.

The Transport Ministry had granted CPN the port business entity license in February. Early this month, Chandra Asri Group effectively spun off its jetties, docks, storage tanks, and supporting facilities to CPN.

The services provided by CPN will support the advancement of industries in Cilegon and its surrounding areas, positioning CPN as one of the largest providers of jetty and bulk liquid storage tank services in Cilegon. CPN is currently in the process of applying for a concession to serve external customers, which is expected to be completed by 2025, according to Chandra Asri Group’s HR and corporate affairs director Suryandi.

“As a growth partner, Chandra Asri Group recognizes the strategic importance of jetty and tank storage infrastructures in supporting industrial growth and the national economy. CPN, strategically located to connect the Java Sea, South China Sea, and the Indian Ocean, will play a pivotal role in accelerating and diversifying the company's business development," Suryandi was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.

CPN is also expected to expand its services to additional stakeholders. According to Suryandi, the demand for jetty and storage services is forecast to rise as businesses in Cilegon and its surrounding areas grow.

“CPN is prepared to competitively manage these services and embrace strategic cooperation opportunities to enhance value to stakeholders," Suryandi said.

According to Suryandi, industries can make use of CPN’s services to distribute liquid chemicals, petrochemicals, and refinery products. The company also comes equipped with an experienced team to serve the customers.
