BNI Supports Premiere of ‘Timur,’ Bringing Fresh Momentum to Indonesian Action Cinema
Jakarta. An immersive jungle installation filled the halls of Epicentrum XXI Jakarta for the Gala Premiere of Timur, the newest action film by martial arts star Iko Uwais, supported by Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) on Thursday evening.
The premiere was attended by Iko Uwais; executive producers Yentonius Jerriel Ho and Nagita Slavina; producer Ryan Santoso; the full Uwais Pictures team; cast members; Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno; and BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan, along with the bank’s management.
Iko, who serves both as director and lead actor, said the collaboration gave him the opportunity to return home and contribute to the industry he grew from.
“After so many years working abroad, I’m proud to return home and finally take a new step as a director,” Iko said.
Timur follows a soldier and his unit on a mission to rescue kidnapped researchers deep in the forest. Inspired by the 1996 Mapenduma incident, Iko aims to showcase deep emotional storytelling alongside high-caliber action choreography — setting a new benchmark for Indonesian action cinema.
“For more than five years, we dreamed of building a production house capable of delivering international-standard action films. Today, we finally release Timur together,” Iko added.
BNI Champions Indonesian Creative Talent
BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan emphasized that supporting the film aligns with BNI’s mission to help Indonesian creative talent grow and compete internationally.
Through this collaboration, BNI aims to strengthen the national creative ecosystem and create more opportunities for young filmmakers to advance their careers.
During the premiere, BNI introduced a special collaboration by launching a limited-edition TapCash card featuring Timur, symbolized by a handover ceremony from Putrama Wahju Setyawan and BNI Vice President Director Alexandra Askandar to executive producer Nagita Slavina.
“BNI sees film as a powerful medium to elevate Indonesian talent and creativity. We hope our support can create even broader positive impact for creative industry players,” Putrama said.
This collaboration stands as a commitment from BNI to support the growth, innovation, and global visibility of Indonesian cinema — paving the way for more national films to step confidently onto the international stage.
