Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto is taking members of the newly established Red and White Cabinet to the Magelang military academy for a three-day exercise that he says will build the ministers’ teamwork.

The ministers -- alongside their deputies, government agency heads, and other key officials --  had military-style synchronized walking exercises on Friday morning. According to Prabowo, the training will encourage them to work in sync. Just like in football, all cabinet members need to work hard to march towards the same goal.

“[Members of the] government must not work in silos, but they should work as a team,” Prabowo said.

The former army general added: “The Red and White Cabinet needs to realize that they are also competing with other countries.”

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said that the marching exercises only had six drill commands, which were commonly used at ministerial ceremonies. All participants donned military uniforms during the exercises.

Prabowo is scheduled to brief the cabinet members, among others, on corruption prevention later that day. Prabowo officially took over as Indonesia’s president over the weekend and inaugurated a cabinet comprising over 100 members. The Magelang retreat will go on until Sunday.
