Bekasi, West Java. A collision involving a taxi and two trains in Bekasi on Monday night killed at least seven people and injured 81 others, according to KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin.

Bobby said all injured victims had been evacuated and were receiving treatment at nine hospitals across the Bekasi area. As part of the emergency response, KAI also established a service post at Bekasi Timur Station to coordinate victim assistance, provide information to passengers’ families, and support evacuation and rail service recovery efforts.

Earlier, KAI spokesperson Franoto Wibowo said the incident began when a taxi collided with an electric commuter train at the Bulak Kapal railway crossing in Bekasi.

Following the impact, the commuter train came to a stop on the tracks. Shortly afterward, the long-distance Argo Bromo train traveling on the same line crashed into the stranded commuter train.

KAI Vice President for Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the company would take full responsibility for assisting victims, including medical expenses, insurance protection, and other needs during recovery.

“KAI will fully cover treatment, insurance, and other related support. We are committed to taking responsibility for this,” Anne said during a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station early Tuesday.

She added that passenger safety and victim assistance were the company’s top priorities. A total of 240 passengers from the Argo Bromo train had been evacuated from the scene.

Meanwhile, 38 passengers from the commuter line train were also evacuated and immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Anne said all available resources were focused on evacuating passengers and crew members while handling victims at the crash site.

“We are ensuring that every effort is directed toward evacuating passengers and train personnel, with safety as the highest priority,” she said.
