Ramaphosa, Prabowo to Hold Bilateral Talks in Jakarta
Jakarta. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Wednesday morning for an official visit and bilateral meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Ramaphosa’s aircraft, operated by the South African Air Force, landed at around 8 a.m. local time. The South African leader was greeted with an official welcome ceremony featuring an honor guard inspection and a 21-gun salute.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Chief of State Protocol Andy Rachmianto, and other senior Indonesian officials were present at the airbase to receive the visiting head of state. The welcoming ceremony also featured a traditional Indonesian dance performance as a gesture of respect and cultural appreciation.
After greeting officials and reviewing the honor guard, Ramaphosa departed the airbase in an official vehicle adorned with the flags of both nations, heading to the State Palace for formal talks with President Prabowo.
The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to deepen economic, trade, and investment ties, as well as to exchange views on key global issues of mutual concern. The meeting marks Ramaphosa’s first official visit to Indonesia under President Prabowo’s administration, highlighting Jakarta’s growing engagement with African partners as part of its broader diplomatic and trade diversification strategy.
