Pramono Anung-Rano Karno to Meet Jokowi, Prabowo, Anies
Jakarta. Jakarta governor hopeful Pramono Anung and his ticket mate Rano Karno are planning to meet key political figures, including President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his successor Prabowo Subianto.
The pair also plans to meet Former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
“We are definitely considering meeting Anies, Jokowi, and Prabowo,” Pramono said in Jakarta over the weekend.
All three meetings are set to take place on separate occasions with Anies being the first one out of the three that the Pramono-Rano pair will see. The talks with Anies will focus on what Jakarta needs and its achievements so far, according to Pramono. “We will meet Brother Anies in the near future,” he added.
Pramono, who recently resigned from his cabinet secretary post, will meet Jokowi once the latter retires as president. Jokowi is set to hand over the presidential power to Prabowo on Oct. 20. Pramono said that there were plans to talk to Jokowi in person soon.
“But I will be meeting him for personal reasons, not as a [governor] candidate. I will ask for his time some time after Oct. 20. Because he would no longer be the president, but as the former Jakarta governor,” Pramono said.
As many as 8.2 million Jakartans will cast their votes to pick their next governor on Nov. 27. Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and his vice governor candidate ex-minister Suswono will join the gubernatorial race. Independent candidate pair Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana are also seeking to lead Jakarta.
