Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, who teamed up with the president’s son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as his running mate, has emerged victorious in 30 out of 32 provinces that have certified their results from the Feb. 14 election as of Sunday.

The only two provinces where he lost to rival Anies Baswedan are Aceh and West Sumatra. Ganjar Pranowo has failed to win a single province, not even Central Java where he served as a two-term governor before contesting the presidential election.

Six remaining provinces haven’t concluded their tallies, including West Java, Maluku, Papua, Papua Mountains, Central Papua, and Southwest Papua.

West Java had to delay certification due to protracted vote counting in Bekasi, located just east of Jakarta, while the other five provinces are expected to deliver results very late due to geographical and technological constraints.

However, the West Java office of the General Election Commission (KPU) promised to conclude the vote tally and certification by Monday at the latest.

The interim tally across all 38 provinces indicates that Prabowo will secure an outright win with around 58 percent of the vote.

He is leading by around 6.5 million votes in West Java, and the pending results from Bekasi won’t change his lead.

Overall, he has garnered more than 75 million votes, more than double the total votes Anies has collected so far.

Prabowo’s biggest win is in East Java, where he leads by more than 12 million votes. His smallest victory margin occurred in Jakarta, with just around 40,000 votes separating him from Anies, who served as governor in the capital city from 2017 to 2022.
