Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto will make his first State of the Nation address on Friday, delivering separate speeches before the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the House of Representatives (DPR) since taking office in October last year.

In his morning address to the MPR, scheduled for 9 a.m., Prabowo will review his administration’s achievements over the past 10 months -- roughly 300 days in office -- and highlight flagship programs, including free nutritious meals, free health check-ups, the Merah Putih Cooperatives initiative, community schools, and efforts toward food self-sufficiency.

Hasan Nasbi, spokesman for the Presidential Office, said the first speech will serve as a comprehensive report card on the work of the Merah Putih Cabinet.

2026 Budget Priorities: Food and Energy Security
In the afternoon, at 2:30 p.m., Prabowo will address a DPR plenary session to present the government’s 2026 draft state budget, which was reviewed earlier this week in a cabinet meeting attended by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

The budget will prioritize food and energy self-sufficiency, while maintaining constitutionally mandated spending on education and healthcare.

Since taking office, Prabowo has also placed strong emphasis on defense and security. Indonesia has finalized deals to purchase dozens of advanced fighter jets from France, a procurement plan initiated during his tenure as defense minister. Analysts expect a significant increase in defense spending in next year’s budget.

Prabowo is also expected to reaffirm his commitment to industrializing the mining sector and enforcing a ban on exports of unprocessed ore and minerals.
