Prabowo Ready to Resume Duties After Surgery, Gibran Says
Jakarta. Vice President-Elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka said Wednesday that incoming leader Prabowo Subianto was ready to resume his duties after recovering from his leg surgery.
Prabowo recently revealed that he had undergone a surgery for his left leg injury. The former general admitted that he had injured his leg when parachuting back in the 1980s during which he was still in the military. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo -- who is also Gibran’s father -- already paid Prabowo a visit at the hospital. Gibran told reporters that he had also met with Prabowo post-surgery.
“I met him [Prabowo] yesterday. Just last night, I visited his home. He was healthy and said he was ready to return to work after recovering from the surgery. He was very excited,” Gibran told reporters when visiting the Nangka Market in Jakarta.
Prabowo and Gibran will take their oath of office this October. In a social media post on Monday, Prabowo said that he could still feel the pain despite it being an old injury. The 72-year-old president-elect also announced that the surgery was a success despite it being a very risky medical procedure.
“Praise be to God, with better health conditions, I shall be even more ready to serve the country and the Indonesian people,” Prabowo wrote on the social media platform X on Monday.
