Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto is planning to host his predecessors, including Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, at the State Palace on Tuesday evening.

Prabowo has extended an invitation to the two other living former presidents, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Megawati Soekarnoputri. Ma’ruf Amin — the Muslim cleric who was Jokowi’s vice president in his second term — also received an invite. The meeting is expected to start at 7.30 p.m.

Jokowi’s assistant, Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, has confirmed that the two-term president would come to the palace.

“Yes, it’s true [that Jokowi will attend],” Syarif said.

There are no details on what Prabowo and the former presidents would discuss. At present, the Prabowo administration — like most countries across the globe — is occupied with the aftermath of the Middle East conflict triggered by the US-Israeli airstrikes on Tehran. Prabowo intends to help facilitate the dialogue between the warring countries. Indonesia is also currently trying to mitigate the conflict’s impact on oil prices.
