Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto's administration has the trust of 63.1% of the public, while 63.3% of respondents believe the president and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are capable of governing, according to a Voxpol Center Research and Consulting survey.

The survey, conducted from Oct. 3 to 12, found that 35.7% of respondents had little or no trust in the government, while 35.2% said the administration was less capable or incapable of governing.

Voxpol executive director Pangi Syarwi said the findings suggested relatively broad public confidence in the administration, although he said the government needed to sustain its performance and ensure its policies delivered benefits across society.

“The level of trust in the Prabowo-Gibran government is relatively strong, reaching 63.1%,” Pangi said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Public confidence varied by region. Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara recorded the highest share of respondents who believed the government was capable of governing, at 88.4%. Sulawesi followed at 75.6%, while Maluku and Papua recorded 71.3%.

The survey also found that 61.1% of respondents believed the government was capable of addressing the country’s problems, compared with 37.5% who said it was less capable or incapable.

The strongest regional assessments of the government’s problem-solving ability were recorded in Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara, at 85%, followed by Sulawesi at 78.8% and Maluku and Papua at 71.3%.

Pangi said the results offered the government an opportunity to strengthen public confidence by maintaining consistent performance, implementing priority programs and ensuring that the benefits of its policies were distributed more evenly.

The survey involved 1,200 respondents interviewed face-to-face by trained enumerators using an Android-based application. Voxpol said it used multistage random sampling, with a margin of error of 2.83 percentage points and a 95% confidence level.

The findings reflect respondents’ views during the survey period and do not necessarily indicate support for every government policy.
