Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday inaugurated the National Neuroscience Institute (INN) at the newly established Mahar Mardjono National Brain Center Hospital (RS PON) in Jakarta.

Prabowo said RS PON will serve not only as a healthcare facility but also as a center for education and research, particularly in brain and neurological sciences.

“This hospital is not only a place for healthcare services, but also an educational and research center for specialist doctors in the field of neurology and brain science. We are confident that this hospital, this research center, can become a center of excellence,” he said.

Prabowo praised RS PON’s expert staff and advanced facilities, saying they rival the world’s best medical centers.

“Earlier I toured the hospital, and in terms of its facilities, equipment, and specialist expertise, it is no less advanced than the best hospitals abroad,” he said.

He lauded RS PON’s advanced technology, enabling brain tumor surgeries, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s treatment, and stroke therapy.

“This highly advanced hospital is already capable of performing brain tumor surgeries, addressing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, handling strokes, and providing the best stroke therapy with world-class equipment,” he said.

RS PON serves as the national referral center for brain and neurological diseases. The development of these new facilities aims to strengthen RS PON’s capacity in handling neurological conditions, while also positioning it as an international-standard education and neuroscience research center.

The new complex consists of three main buildings, equipped with an Emergency Department, SCU, High Care Unit (HCU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), LINAC radiotherapy, and a CT simulator. The construction was funded by the State Budget (APBN), PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), and the Public Service Agency (BLU).
