Prabowo Heads to Moscow for Bilateral Talks with Putin
Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto is set to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday, according to an announcement published on the Russian government’s official website. The meeting is part of Prabowo’s working visit to Russia.
The Kremlin said the two leaders will discuss the progress of Indonesia–Russia strategic relations, along with regional and international issues of shared concern. The visit highlights the growing momentum in bilateral ties throughout 2025.
This will be Prabowo’s third meeting with Putin this year. Their first meeting took place on June 19 at the Konstantinovsky Palace in St. Petersburg, marking the start of a series of strategic dialogues between Jakarta and Moscow.
The second was held on September 3 in Beijing during the 80th anniversary of China’s War of Resistance celebrations, where both leaders explored cooperation in economic development, energy, and future investment opportunities.
Before arriving in Moscow, Prabowo made a state visit to Islamabad, Pakistan, on December 8–9, where he met President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The visit commemorated 75 years of Indonesia–Pakistan diplomatic relations and advanced collaboration in defense, economic ties, education, and investment.
Prabowo’s packed diplomatic schedule underscores Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its position in global geopolitics, including deepening strategic cooperation with Russia.
