Prabowo Celebrates Birthday with Modest Gathering and Fried Rice for Millions
Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto celebrated his 74th birthday on Friday with a modest thanksgiving ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, attended by family members, top officials, and cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, millions of students across Indonesia enjoyed his favorite dish --fried rice with a sunny-side-up egg--served under Prabowo’s flagship Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
Among the guests were Prabowo’s former wife, Titiek Soeharto, the daughter of Indonesia’s second president Suharto, and their son, fashion designer Didit Hediprasetyo. A photo shared by Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad on Instagram showed the pair standing beside Prabowo during the prayer ceremony, which featured a traditional cone of nasi tumpeng (yellow rice) surrounded by side dishes.
“We proudly join the president in his 74th birthday celebration, continuing the struggle toward a just and prosperous Indonesia,” Dasco wrote in his caption.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Investment and Downstream Industry Minister Rosan Roeslani, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief Herindra were also in attendance. The event also drew other high-profile figures, including Deputy Communication Minister Angga Raka Prabowo, Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid, and presidential envoy for youth and the arts Raffi Ahmad.

May you be blessed with health, wisdom, and courage as you continue to serve Indonesia with unyielding patriotism,” Jokowi wrote, posting a photo of Prabowo presenting him with a traditional dagger at a past Gerindra Party event.
Meanwhile, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) marked the day by serving Prabowo’s favorite meal --fried rice and a fried egg-- at all MBG kitchens across the country.
“On this special day, October 17, all 7,000-plus nutrition centers in 38 provinces and 509 regencies are serving the president’s favorite menu,” said BGN head Dadan Hindayana.
He added that the gesture symbolized the administration’s commitment to improving child nutrition as part of the MBG initiative, which aims to feed millions of schoolchildren daily. “We wish the president good health and happiness as he leads Indonesia toward the Golden Vision 2045 through a generation that is healthy, strong, and smart,” Dadan said.
While the palace hosted a small gathering, Prabowo’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, remained quiet, with only a few floral arrangements displayed outside the gate.
