Jakarta. The inaugural presidential debate set for Tuesday evening, the first of five scheduled, will extend over 150 minutes, inclusive of TV commercial breaks.

General Election Commission (KPU) Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said that the debate will consist of six segments. All three candidates -- Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo -- will face questions from panelists and engage in discussions among themselves.

Explaining the format, Hasyim said that each candidate will have two minutes to answer a question posed by the moderators, followed by a minute for rivals to respond, and an additional minute for the initial candidate to counter-respond.

"This format will be repeated among the three candidates throughout the debate," he said at his office in Jakarta on Monday.

The primary debate for the February 14 election will emphasize the themes of the rule of law, democracy, anti-corruption measures, and human rights issues.

Subsequently, the second debate, scheduled for December 22, will focus on discussions surrounding populist economic programs, the digital economy, finance, investment, trade, tax policies, state budget management, and infrastructure development.

Two additional debates are planned for January 7 and 21, concentrating on security and international relations, succeeded by a debate centered on environmental issues.

The final debate, scheduled for February 4, will feature discussions encompassing social welfare, culture, education, information technology, healthcare programs, job creation, and human development.
