Kebumen, Central Java. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had an intimate moment with presidential hopefuls Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto on Thursday as he walked them in the middle of paddy fields in the Central Java town of Kebumen.

The three men talked to each other while walking across the dike and greeting villagers who were harvesting rice. They also took a selfie together with Jokowi and Ganjar taking turns pressing the camera button.

Ganjar, dressed in a tan governor uniform, later shared photos of the moment on his social media accounts. The Central Java governor is currently the poll leader for the 2024 presidential election.

It remains unclear why Prabowo took part in the event aside from his busy schedule as the defense minister.

But the president has openly indicated support for both men on several occasions in recent months.

During a gathering with thousands of his supporters last year, Jokowi said the next leader must be a hard-working man recognizable by his white hair, in an apparent reference to Ganjar.

But he also has said in an event attended by Prabowo that the latter’s turn may come in the next election after being defeated twice in 2014 and 2019 by him.

The rare paddy field moment triggers internet users to speculate about the possible pairing of Ganjar and Prabowo as the running mate for the election.

“Ganjar-Prabowo will win in one round,” Twitter account Elly Putri Simanjuntak wrote.

But of course, Prabowo supporters have a different idea.

“For 2024, Prabowo-Ganjar is the better option,” one Twitter user wrote.
