KPK Invites 3 Presidential Candidates to Present Anti-Corruption Agenda
Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has extended invitations to all three presidential candidates -- Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo -- to present their commitments to combating corruption.
The event is scheduled to take place at the KPK headquarters next Wednesday.
Commissioner Nurul Ghufron said on Friday the purpose of the event is not to facilitate a debate on anti-corruption programs but to provide candidates with an understanding of the current situation, challenges, and obstacles faced in the fight against corruption.
"The candidates are expected to articulate their strategic plans and operational programs more comprehensively than in previous forums," Ghufron told reporters at the KPK office.
In addition to the presidential candidates, invitations have also been extended to their respective running mates: Muhaimin Iskandar, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Mohammad Mahfud MD.
Ghufron said the KPK aims to ensure that all candidates comprehend crucial indicators in the anti-corruption drive, including the integrity evaluation survey, the anti-corruption behavior index, and the corruption perception index.
A prosperous Indonesia is impossible to achieve unless the country can effectively combat corruption, making it very crucial to get assurance from any candidate for the country’s most powerful job about their anti-corruption commitment, Nurul said.
"That’s the key agenda for the January 17 event. We need to hear their anti-corruption plans and commitments, and there will be no debate among them," he concluded.
