Jakarta. Ahmad Sahroni, a politician from the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), was supposed to be questioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday in connection with a corruption case involving former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, also known as SYL.

However, Ahmad Sahroni was unable to comply with the KPK investigators' summons this time. "I can't attend," said the Nasdem Party's chief treasurer on Friday.

Sahroni cited other unavoidable commitments as the reason for his absence and claimed to have sent a letter to the KPK regarding his inability to attend.

Meanwhile, the KPK has not disclosed the specific details of the information they intended to delve into during Sahroni's examination. The anti-corruption agency will reveal the results of the questioning once the scheduled inquiry has been completed.

On Wednesday, KPK searched the residence of Hanan Supangkat, a businessman and key witness in the case involving SYL. Hanan Supangkat is the owner of Mulia Knitting Factory, a company known for its popular underwear brand Rider.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo is facing allegations of extortion and accepting gratifications amounting to Rp 44.5 billion ($3.2 million). According to the indictment, the funds were allegedly utilized for personal and family expenses. Additionally, SYL is accused of appointing individuals he trusted to key positions within the Agriculture Ministry to streamline his official responsibilities.

Last October, Ahmad Sahroni denied allegations made by KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata that the Nasdem Party received billions of rupiah in ill-gotten funds from corruption suspect Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
