Jakarta.  The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested Menas Erwin Djohansyah, chief executive of power generator solutions company Wahana Adyawarna, in connection with a major judicial corruption scandal.

Menas, who had already been named a suspect, was detained on Wednesday in an upscale residential complex in Bumi Serpong Damai, Tangerang, after twice failing to respond to official summonses, the agency said.

The case is linked to former Supreme Court secretary Hasbi Hasan, who was sentenced in April 2024 to six years in prison for accepting Rp 11.2 billion (around $690,000) in bribes and lavish perks from parties with cases before the court. His conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court after his appeal was rejected.

Court documents show Menas allegedly financed a series of luxury hotel stays for Hasan between 2021 and 2022. These included a three-month stay at Fraser Residence Menteng for Rp 120 million, several months at The Hermitage Hotel valued at Rp 240.5 million, and multiple suites at Novotel Cikini costing Rp 162.7 million.

Judges ruled that Hasan used the hotel rooms to hold secret meetings with litigants and for personal liaisons with singer Windy Yunita Bastari, better known as Windy Idol.

Hasan, Windy, her brother Rinaldo Septariando, and Menas now face additional charges of money laundering, according to investigators. In addition to his prison sentence, Hasan has been ordered to pay nearly Rp 5 billion to the state or face asset seizures as compensation.

The KPK has not disclosed further details of Menas’ specific role in the case, but officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
