Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government is currently holding 13 job fairs under the Jobfest 2025 program and plans to organize another eight job fairs throughout the year.

At the Jobfest 2025 held at the Velodrome in East Jakarta on August 19–20, 37 companies offered around 2,000 job vacancies.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said that through the 13 job fairs held so far, 1,450 people have secured employment.

“We have held 13 events out of the 21 targeted. In total, 458 companies have participated, and 1,450 applicants have been hired,” Pramono said at the Velodrome on Tuesday.

In addition to connecting residents with hiring companies, Pramono also urged the Jakarta Manpower Office to improve the quality of Jakarta’s workforce by offering various training programs, including foreign language training.

“Unemployment is one of my top priorities. So, if job fairs are still needed, we will not stop at 21 -- we can add more if necessary. I have even asked the head of the department to specifically prepare a mobile training unit for people to learn foreign languages,” he stated.

According to him, participants are free to choose any foreign language they want.

“Whether it’s Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, English, and so on, because that is one of our shortcomings,” Pramono explained.

However, he acknowledged that there are still challenges that prevent job seekers from securing employment, particularly the mismatch between applicants’ qualifications and job requirements.

“Often, the needs and the applicants don’t match. For example, someone applies as an unskilled laborer, but the available vacancies are for skilled workers,” he added.
