Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto continues to hold a substantial lead in the real vote count by the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2024 presidential election. As of Friday at 10:00 AM WIB, over 50 percent of the results from more than 820,000 polling stations have been processed.

Prabowo, along with his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, is leading over their two opponents. Prabowo is currently ahead with approximately 30.63 million votes or around 56.82 percent, potentially setting the stage for a one-round election. Across 38 provinces and an overseas voter electorate, Prabowo is leading in 35, while Anies leads in three provinces, and Ganjar leads in the overseas real count results.

Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan and his running mate Muhaimin Iskandar have garnered 25.2 percent of the votes, equivalent to 13.59 million votes, while Ganjar Pranowo and his VP candidate, Mohammad Mahfud MD, secured 17.98 percent or approximately 9.69 million votes.

Prabowo appears to be winning crucial regions like Central Java and Bali, which are significant electorates for the ruling party PDI-P, and its candidate Ganjar. Apart from Central Java, Prabowo's votes have mainly come from East Java, West Java, Lampung, and North Sumatra.

In Jakarta, Anies is slightly leading over Prabowo with 872,158 votes versus 868,513 votes, with approximately 58 percent of polling stations completing the real count.

Anies is dominating in Aceh, the only province implementing Islamic law (sharia) in Indonesia, and in West Sumatra, known for its strong Muslim voter base.

Meanwhile, Ganjar is leading in the overseas electorate results over the other two candidates, with around 38 percent of overseas polling stations completing the real count as of Friday morning.

The vote count for the Presidential Election 2024 is still ongoing, and the KPU will conduct a vote recapitulation until March 20.
