Jeon Hye Bin’s Card Stolen in Bali, But She Still Calls Trip 'Beautiful Memory'
Denpasar, Bali. South Korean actress Jeon Hye Bin said she lost 15 million won (about Rp177.5 million or $130,000) within 10 minutes after her credit card was stolen while vacationing in Bali
The 41-year-old actress shared the experience on Instagram on Wednesday, warning fellow travelers in Ubud and across the island to remain vigilant.
“My card was stolen in this area, and 15 million won was charged within 10 minutes of losing it. Please be careful, everyone in Ubud or anyone planning to travel here soon,” Jeon wrote in her Instagram story, quoted by Korea Joongang Daily on Thursday.
Despite the theft, Jeon expressed that she still cherished her vacation in Bali, which she took with her family to celebrate her third year of motherhood. “News of this incident has spread even here in Bali, and I worry it may hurt the image of this beautiful place. But what we gained from the trip was far greater than our loss. This holiday has become a special memory for our child,” she said.
The actress also praised the swift response of local authorities. “Thanks to the fair and helpful assistance of the Bali police, I was able to complete the investigation smoothly. Last night, we arrived safely at our next destination,” she said, as quoted by entertainment outlet Allkpop on Friday.
The South Korean Embassy in Indonesia said Bali remains relatively safe but urged travelers to exercise caution, especially at night. “Travelers should avoid going out late due to risks of theft, robbery, and traffic accidents. Even during the day, bags should be kept away from the roadside, and pedestrians should refrain from using their phones while walking,” the embassy said in a statement.
Authorities also advised tourists to immediately report lost or stolen credit cards to their issuers to minimize financial losses. A police report, they added, can serve as documentation when filing claims with banks or travel insurance providers.
Jeon, who debuted as a member of the girl group LUV in 2002, has since built a successful acting career. She is known for her roles in KBS dramas The Queen of Office (2013) and Gunman in Joseon (2014), and most recently appeared in JTBC’s Beyond the Bar (2025).
