TransJakarta Dedicates 30% of Bus Stop Area to MSMEs
Jakarta. To boost the economic development of Jakarta City, the public transportation operator, commonly referred to as TransJakarta, is designating up to 30 percent of space at its bus stops to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"In several TransJakarta bus stops, around 20-30 percent is allocated for MSMEs. This is part of our efforts to support the economy through the MSME sector," Fadly Hasan, Director of Services and Business at TransJakarta, said on Monday.
Fadly said that TransJakarta is inviting MSME entrepreneurs interested in establishing businesses at its bus stops as the company is trying to maximize public space utilization.
This initiative is seen in places like CSW Bus Stop at Bundaran HI and Dukuh Atas Bus Stop. These stops have different shops where people can enjoy waiting for TransJakarta or meeting others. The shops vary from local to international, including supermarkets, coffee shops, small businesses, etc.
"Examples also include small concerts at stops featuring artists like Raisa, fashion shows for local batik products, product launches, artist concerts at stops, and other community activities...While enjoying a cup of coffee, people can savor a view that is no less beautiful than abroad," he added.
Fadly said that non-ticket revenue for TransJakarta in 2023 reached Rp 120 billion ($7.68 million), doubling from 2022's Rp 61.3 billion. The customer satisfaction index score in 2023 reached 4.42 on a scale of 5.00.
Previously, Tranjakarta CEO, Welfizon Yuza, said that TransJakarta served 280 million passengers in 2023 and is eyeing to transport 340 million passengers in 2024 by improving the quality of service, enhancing integration with services like MRT, LRT, and others.
